Frequently Asked Questions

Here, the editors have compiled a number of questions that are designed to help hopeful poets navigate the submission process for Under Your Pillow. If you have a question that hasn't been answered here, please feel free to get in touch with Wendy and Charley to ask for further guidance: underyourpillowsubmissions@gmail.com

Are you open to international submissions?
Yes. The editors would love to hear from poets all over the world.

Will you respond to all submissions?
Absolutely. Whether your work is accepted or not, Wendy and Charley will contact everyone who submits work for consideration.

How long should poems be?
Poems can be up to 40 lines, not including the title.

Is there a fee to submit work?
Yes. It costs £3 to submit a single poem and this fee should be made via PayPal. More information about this can be found on our Submission Guidelines page.

Where does this reading fee go?
Monies made through this part of the process will go to the editors, who will be spending a considerable amount of time working behind the scenes on the project. Under Your Pillow is not funded by an external body, so the editors are hopeful they may manage to purchase a flat white or two from the proceeds of the anthology to keep them sharp during their reading window.

If my work is selected, will I receive a fee for my work?
Unfortunately, we're unable to pay authors for their contributions to the collection. However, all contributors will receive one free author copy when the book is published in 2023.
